River Tweed descent

Club members from Sheffield & Ichthus Canoe Clubs made a descent of the River Tweed in open canoes. Starting in Peebles with two nights of wild camping along the river, finishing at Coldstream.

River Derwent canoe trip

Paddlers from Sheffield Canoe Club and Ichthus Canoe Club took the opportunity or some rare Spring sunshine to head out onto the River Derwent in Canoes. Getting on at Darley Bridge the levels were perfect for practicing moving water skills in open boats. Cromford Weir was a little low to run in canoes so a quick portage before finishing at Cromford Mill.

New steps installed at the river

With the generous help of volunteers from local business Gripple, and a grant from Paddle UK, the club has been able to install a set of steps to the river, improving access and accessibility for all.

River Derwent peer trip

Some of our white water kayakers enjoyed the higher river levels over the winter with a trip to the river Derwent between Hathersage and Curbar. Plenty of wave surfing and the odd bouncey wave train made it a great trip on a rare sunny day in February.

To get involved and join us on peer trips speak to members at our sessions and get on our facebook group.

Ladybower Paddle

A group or members organised their own trip to Ladybower Reservoir to enjoy the sunshine and paddling on this large reservoir.

Tyne Tour 2025

A group of members headed north for this year's Tyne Tour to enjoy the rapids of the North Tyne including Barrasford and Warden Gorge. Water levels were higher than the previous year making the rapids that bit more punchy. Many paddlers from across the UK visited with roughly 250 paddlers present over the weekend. Hopefully this won't be the last TT and if it's on next year we'll organise to go again.

Autumn Slalom

This year's autumn slalom was a storming success, literally. Heavy rain produced a damp first day of racing with a first place in Div4 K1M for Keldon, and first team entry for several years coming second place the icing on the cake.

Overnight the river rose by 70cm resulting in a delayed start and some hasty course changes on Sunday. The racing that followed was exceptional and both days were well attended.

Thanks to all who came to race and especially to those that volunteered and helped out. There are too many to mention here.

Paddle UK Quality Club

Over the summer, and last 9 months, the committee have been hard at work. We have been accreddited by Paddle UK in to their Quality Club programme.

This award recognises the professionalism and rigour being applied to the running of the club. It is a great acheivment and with work to continue these standards we should be able to stay within the Quality Club programme for years to come.

Nene Whitewater Cente

Two weeks ago eight of our members did the Nene white water centre. Great fun, especially this drop pictured. Some good play waves further down. The weir is a very friendly drop you just need to keep paddling on the way down.  A brilliant day finished off with a nice coffee.
